A Supervisor for Our Community
Meet Melissa Hernandez.
Melissa’s story is the story of so many Alameda County families—one of scratching and sacrificing to achieve the American Dream. Melissa is the fifth of seven children born to migrant farm workers in Dixon. Her parents, through sheer grit, determination, and the helping hand of a compassionate neighbor, lifted her family into the middle class. From that moment on, Melissa dedicated her life to public service and giving back.
Melissa has been deeply rooted in Dublin for 20 years. She’s spent her adult life raising her children and volunteering her time in the Tri-Valley community, in her children’s school, on the Little League Board, and as a member of the Rotary service club. She served as Chair of the Human Services Commission, and helped raise funds for youth and our community’s neediest citizens. In 2016, while juggling a family, her studies and a job, Melissa stepped up and won a seat on the Dublin City Council. In 2018, her colleagues on the Council voted her Vice Mayor.
As your Supervisor, Melissa will work to help hard working families move into the middle class, to protect our social services that help veterans and the elderly, create more affordable housing and improve transportation and public safety to ensure safe, successful and vibrant communities for all Alameda County families.
